This Mortal Coil 1983-1991 Box Set, 4 CD's 4AD (Warner Bros) rel. 1993 RARE OOP. I am grading this as VG as the discs are slightly scratched, and the box shows a lot of wear. The booklet shows wear too and is completely detached from the inside of the box. (I bought this copy used. It's definitely not up to my usual standards). I see that better copies of this can sell for quite a bit, but I have priced it much lower because of the condition.
I have played all 4 discs before posting this listing. The 3 This Mortal Coil albums play through fine. No skips, no problems. The Original Versions disc did get "stuck" during the Emmylou Harris song - but only on the DVD player I first used to test them (which is a finicky drive to begin with). When I tried that one in the newer cd/dvd drive connected to my computer it played fine.
BUT, included in the box is a CD-R of not only the Original Versions disc, but the other three as well in case you encounter any issues with playback. They were included with the box when I bought it many many years ago from an seller. I'm not sure how he was able to make copies if he was having issues. Maybe he used a computer drive. But all 4 CD-R's are included.
This contains all 3 of the group's albums: It'll End In Tears, Filigree and Shadow, Blood. The 4th disc titled "Original Versions" is originals of some of the songs they covered on these 3 albums. When I heard that disc I immediately sought out some of the artists I wasn't super familiar with (Chris Bell, Roy Harper, Gene Clark, Pearls Before Swine, etc). I knew of Gene Clark from the Byrds, but was unfamiliar with his solo work. His album "No Other", which contains "Strength of Strings" is a lost classic. Check it out if you don't know it already.
