This is a 1973 U.S. MCA rainbow-label pressing carrying the desirable MG7-12888-W2X mastering lineage in the deadwax. The W2X cut traces back to the early U.S. metalwork collectors specifically seek out for this album, giving this MCA pressing considerably more appeal than a routine later recut.


And this is exactly the kind of record where the mastering matters — Who’s Next was built to be played loud. Those synthesizers opening Baba O’Riley, the acoustic space around Behind Blue Eyes, and the nuclear blast at the end of Won’t Get Fooled Again are why people keep hunting specific cuts of this album more than fifty years later.
