The Cars - Self-Titled Debut Vinyl LP (1978)**
**A HIGHLY COVETED AUDIOPHILE ARCHIVE COPY — TRUE FIRST WEST COAST LACQUER CUT****Label:** Elektra – 6E-135 (Stereo)
**Pressing Plant:** PRC Recording Company, Compton, CA ("PRC-W")
**Mastering:** George Marino at Sterling Sound (Stamped "STERLING")Attention collectors: This is NOT a standard, common 1978 reissue. This is the definitive, historically significant West Coast True First Pressing. For the PRC Compton plant, the "-5" lacquer designations represent the absolute earliest master cuts distributed for production.**Exact Deadwax / Matrix Etchings:**
* Side One: 6E-135-A-5-PRC-W-1 [Stamped: STERLING]
* Side Two: 6E-135-B-5-PRC-W-1 [Stamped: STERLING]**Why This Copy Matters:**
Finding early Sterling Sound masterings cut by George Marino from the original tapes is the gold standard for this New Wave masterpiece. The Compton "PRC-W" variants are tougher to find than midwest copies, and the A-5/B-5 matrix marks this as a day-one production run.**Inclusions:**
* Original heavy-stock illustrated inner sleeve featuring full band photos, credits, and lyrics (crisp, vibrant, no major seam splits).
* Original vintage jacket with bold, iconic front driver artwork.**Condition Notes:**
* Jacket: VG+ with minimal shelf wear, sharp corners]
* Vinyl: grade, e.g., EX/NM with stunning high gloss, tested clean.
* Inner Sleeve: EXCollector-grade.
