The Beatles — Meet the Beatles! Capitol Stereo LP, 1964 (ST 2047)The American debut LP that launched Beatlemania in the U.S. — Capitol Records ST 2047, the stereo pressing, with Robert Freeman's now-iconic half-shadow cover portrait and the brown-and-blue "MEET THE BEATLES!" title block. Both black rainbow-rim labels read "Meet The BEATLES! (Recorded in England)" with the standard "MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC." perimeter text and matrix numbers ST-X-1-2047 / ST-X-2-2047. Side one opens with I Want to Hold Your Hand and I Saw Her Standing There; side two carries Till There Was You and George Harrison's sole songwriting credit on the album, Don't Bother Me. The inner sleeve is the blue Capitol/Duotone catalog sleeve, its back panel advertising Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys, and the rest of Capitol's early-1964 roster — a perfect time capsule of the moment the label's world was about to change Significance & Rarity
Among U.S. Beatles pressings, the ST-X matrix stereo first pressing of Meet the Beatles! is the configuration collectors target first. The ST-X prefix denotes the original Scranton lacquer cut, distinct from later ST-A (Los Angeles) and subsidiary pressings.CONDITIONGood overall with normal signs of play and age; confirmed playable. Jacket shows toning to the covers, edge and corner wear, and light soiling to the front; the back cover has scattered foxing and staining consistent with 60-year-old paper stock. Both record surfaces carry handling marks and light play wear; no deep gouges or skips noted.
