The Blue Three – At Hanratty’s is a 1981 traditional jazz recording featuring three accomplished American jazz musicians: clarinetist Kenny Davern, pianist Dick Wellstood and drummer Bobby Rosengarden. Recorded live at Hanratty’s in New York City, the album captures the trio in an intimate club setting performing a selection of jazz standards and originals.
Kenny Davern was a highly regarded clarinetist and soprano saxophonist associated with traditional jazz and swing, while Dick Wellstood was known for his stride and traditional jazz piano playing. Bobby Rosengarden was a veteran jazz drummer whose extensive career included television, studio and live performance work. Together as The Blue Three, the musicians perform without bass, creating an unusual clarinet-piano-drums trio setting.
The album was recorded at Hanratty’s in New York City with Bob Cubbage as recording and mixing engineer. Mastering and pressing were handled by RCA, and Charlie Baron produced the album.
