Suzanne Ciani – Buchla Concert At Galeria Bonino New York April 1974 is a live album released in August 2024 by Finders Keepers Records (catalog FKR-118LP). It documents the Italian-American composer\'s very first public performance on the Buchla synthesizer, captured at a New York art gallery in April 1974. The recording spent fifty years unheard before finally reaching a global audience, making it a significant archival release for electronic music history.

🎵 Album Highlights

The performance took place at the Galeria Bonino in New York and represents a pivotal moment in Ciani\'s career as one of the earliest advocates for the Buchla synthesizer. Finders Keepers Records describes the release as \"an archival project of \'art music\' that not only redefines musical history but lays genuine claim to the overused buzzwords such as pioneering, maverick, experimental, groundbreaking and esoteric\". The label positions Ciani as \"the first woman on the proverbial musical moon,\" and notes that if these recordings had been released alongside the work of Morton Subotnick, Walter Carlos, or Tomita in the 1970s, \"the name Suzanne Ciani and her infectious influence would have already radically changed the shape, sound and gender of our record\".
