SKIPPER TREVATHAN by Skipper TrevathanThis is a rare Jazz Album. Here are some details I can find on Artist.RARE FACTORY PRIVATE PRESS JAZZ LP – SKIPPER TREVATHAN – SELF-TITLED ALBUM – ORIGINALHere is a truly hard-to-find and highly intriguing private press jazz LP from Skipper Trevathan, presented here in factory sealed condition and preserved exactly as it left the original production run. This is a Not On Label independent release, featuring Skipper Trevathan on piano and vocals with a classic jazz trio lineup including bass and drums. The album presents a warm, intimate set of jazz standards and vocal performances, including timeless selections such as “Them There Eyes,” “Just Friends,” “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter,” and more. What makes this piece especially appealing to collectors is its complete obscurity in the marketplace—with virtually no recorded sales history and minimal documentation available. The Discogs entry exists, but there are currently no confirmed marketplace sales or widely known distribution history, making this a true underground/private-press discovery.HIGHLIGHTS:
• VG+ original pressing
• Private press / Not On Label release

PRESSING: Private independent release (Not On Label)A genuine opportunity to own a sealed piece of obscure jazz history that has remained largely unknown in the collector marketplace. Please review photos carefully as this is being sold as-is due to sealed condition. Ships securely with collector-grade packaging.Additionally.Skipper Trevathan was a Jazz American Pianist known primarily for his work in Texas & Houston, Texas area. His birth name was Robert Blount Trevathan, and he was born in Kentucky in 1912, passing away in Houston in 1964 at the age of 52. He took up piano at an early age and was known locally for his playing ability. While offered to join with famed Jazz players though out the United States it is said he elected to stay close to family and mainly to play in the the State of Texas primarily in Houston and to promote Jazz music. At his followers request he released one known (to date) album titled simply "Skipper Trevathan" and was a private pressing with a red cover and his names in gold lettering. The number of albums pressed likely were small in number (rumored at 100 copies total pressed). Date of pressing is unknown. What is noted on the dead wax on this end is unknown as well as this is a sealed copy.In my view making this sealed album very very rare. Record Archives as of this writing it appears there are only 5 known recording in record archives existing thus far (key words "thus far" as acknowledged by collectors) as of this writing. Four secured by jazz music collectors. Plus this one.Yes that is the original shrink. Many older private label pressing used the looser shrink. On this album it is said features artists: Alex Boffa on Bass Bob Jeambert on Drums and Skipper Trevathan on Piano and Vocals. This is a sealed album and the above tracks were noted online in record archives but as it is sealed I can not personally verify this though likely accurate.Much of this information was found on the net and while I assume it is accurate I personally have no knowledge one way or the other.Vinyl Grade: SEALEDJacket/Cover Grade: Please see pictures for condition.Inner Sleeve: Not Graded - As PicturedFormat: Vinyl LPSpeed: 33 1/3 RPM (unless it is noted otherwise in listing)Notes ( if any ):As this is a private press likely this is a very rare find, numbers have been rumored to be as low as 100 ever produced
