Here’s one for the collectors who enjoy digging a little deeper into the soul and funk catalogs of the early ’70s.Shades of Brown’s S.O.B. is a terrific piece of Chicago soul, released in 1970 on Cadet Records, part of the legendary Chess family of labels. Produced by Bobby Miller, the album brings together rich vocal harmonies, soulful arrangements, and plenty of rhythm, with that unmistakable sound that made the Chicago soul scene so special. This is an original-era 1970 US Cadet pressing (LPS-843), featuring the blue-and-white Cadet label and period matrix markings.Vinyl: VG+
Jacket: VGThe vinyl is in very good plus condition, while the original jacket shows more noticeable wear consistent with its VG grading. Please examine the photographs for a closer look.Musically, there’s a lot to enjoy here. “Lite Y’All Up” gets things moving, “Lie Number Two” settles into a soulful groove, and “Garbage Man” is another track worth discovering. There’s a wonderful balance of vocal soul, funk, and thoughtful arrangements throughout the album. This is the kind of record that makes digging through the lesser-known corners of the Cadet catalog so rewarding. It may not be a household name, but for anyone who appreciates vintage Chicago soul, obscure funk, and original American pressings, it’s well worth exploring.A great addition to a collection built around the deeper sounds of the late ’60s and early ’70s.Please review all photographs carefully as part of the condition description.Take a look around the shop while you’re here—there’s always another original pressing, hidden gem, or collectible waiting to be discovered, and I’m happy to combine shipping whenever possible.MYSTIC GROOVES
