Delve deep into the culture, beats, and poetry that shook the world with the Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap. Produced in an unprecedented collaboration between the Smithsonian\'s National Museum of African American History and Culture and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, this first-of-its-kind multimedia collection chronicles the explosive growth of hip-hop from its roots in the parks of the Bronx to its status as a global phenomenon.

Curated by an elite committee including Chuck D, MC Lyte, Questlove, 9th Wonder, and legendary critics, this set functions as an audio-visual textbook on the African American experience and its definitive impact on popular culture. This listing features 8 of the 9 compact discs mapping out classic tracks, alongside the visually striking 300-page hardcover companion book featuring original design work by Cey Adams (the founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings), extensive liner notes, historical essays, and rare photographs.
