A Sealed Treasure: Duke Ellington's Orchestral Genius with the Cincinnati Symphony!
Step back to 1970 with this incredible, factory-sealed vinyl pressing of Duke Ellington's collaboration with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the legendary Erich Kunzel. This is more than just a record; it's a collector's piece, complete with the original "Collector's Item" hype sticker and the rare, limited edition bonus 7" record featuring a poetic commentary on the music by Duke Ellington himself!
The vinyl is in pristine, unplayed Mint condition, perfectly preserved within its original factory shrink wrap. The cover presents beautifully, protected by the shrink. Please note that there is some writing ("Westfield - U") on the shrinkwrap itself and minor wear to the corners of the shrinkwrap, particularly the bottom left where there is a small tear (please see photos for details).
This album is a stunning example of "Third Stream" music, masterfully blending the worlds of jazz and classical. Don't miss this opportunity to own a sealed piece of music history from one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
Tracklist (LP):
A1: New World A'Coming (11:12)
A2: Harlem (14:10)
B1: The Golden Broom And The Green Apple

Recorded in December 1969 and released in 1970, this album captures Duke Ellington in a period of ambitious, large-scale composition. It stands as a landmark "Third Stream" recording—a term coined to describe the synthesis of jazz and classical music. The project paired the iconic jazz maestro with a young Erich Kunzel, who would go on to become a world-renowned conductor of the Cincinnati Pops. The compositions are some of Ellington's most evocative orchestral works.
"Harlem" is a vibrant tone poem that musically narrates the history of the famed neighborhood, while "New World A'Coming" showcases Ellington's prowess on the piano.
The rare bonus 7" record makes this release a true historical document, allowing the listener to hear Ellington's own thoughts and poetic insights into his creations, a feature that was quite innovative for its time.
