ROSE ROYCE – MUSIC MAGIC (1984)

Original-era 1984 vinyl LP of Music Magic by legendary R&B and funk group Rose Royce, released on Montage Records, catalog number MA110.

Best known for classics such as “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You,” “Wishing on a Star,” and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” Rose Royce helped define the sound of 1970s soul and funk. On Music Magic, the group brings that musical legacy into the 1980s with synthesizer-driven grooves, dance-oriented arrangements, and smooth R&B vocals.

The album features the standout tracks “Magic Touch,” “Work It,” “Holding On to Love,” and “Long Distance Love Affair.”

The distinctive front cover features futuristic artwork combining a classic luxury automobile with a robotic face wearing headphones. Illustration by Tony Mascio.
