R.E.M.: Eponymous (EXTREMELY RARE 1998 JAPAN PROMO CD OUT OF PRINT TOCP-51094),1998 JAPANESE MEDIA ADVANCE RELEASE PROMO CD)THIS PROMOTIONAL CD IS EXTREMELY RARE, I CAN\'T FIND ANOTHER ONE FOR SALE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.REM’s first greatest hits package from 1988 re-issued in October 1998 by Toshiba-EMI in Japan for their Xmas campaign \"The Best Of The Best\". It marked the end of their time on I.R.S. Records where they had been since 1982. They had just signed on with Warner and this album closed a chapter with top 40 charts around the world. Comes with a lift out fold out sheet with Japanese liner notes and all lyrics in English & Japanese.Eponymous is notable for its inclusion of several rare or alternative versions of known tracks, most notably the soundtrack contribution \"Romance\", which had not previously appeared on an R.E.M. record. Spanning from the initial single release of \"Radio Free Europe\" to the previous year\'s breakthrough hit album Document, Eponymous is not the usual greatest hits package, which is what makes it a rather special selection of R.E.M.\'s early work.OUT OF PRINT JAPANESE PROMO PRESSING. Mint condition. Japanese promo CD\'s are the most sought after by collectors because the stamping and numbering on the inner ring of the CD means they make a separate glass master just for promo samples. This means only one metal master stamper is produced instead of the father-mother-stamper method for regular CD\'s. This means SUPREME QUALITY, or the best it possibly can be as an exact copy of the original master without any data loss in production.Personally, I love collecting Japanese CD\'s, they are generally superior quality to the rest of the world on every level in my opinion. All the JAPANESE CD\'s I own are more often than not, the best sounding in the world!!It is BRAND NEW NEVER BEEN PLAYED.
