$47.55

Thanks for looking at my brand new item..

This is a piece of the main timber frame from around the front door of the Tudor cottage at Tittenhurst Park where John Lennon recorded one of the greatest albums of all time.

The first 20 introductory frames in this edition will all feature and outside piece of the timber.

The frame was made from green English oak almost 500 years ago and the hardest timber I have ever cut..!

I am offering it with an introductory price for the first 20 frames.

Please check my response from people who have recently purchased one of my other frames.. Everybody has been delighted with their purchase. They will be very well packaged for safe transit to you, anywhere in the World that is covered by the global shipping program.

It initially started by giving them as gifts for family and friends. Everyone who has received one of these has absolutely loved it, so I decided to create some more for many people to enjoy.

Each frame has its own unique number of an edition of 200. The frame is 175 x 225mm and the display area is 120 x 170mm with a metal plaque describing what the item is..

The piece of timber on the display measures approximately 60mm x 30mm. It may not be cut exactly square as the timber is almost 500 year old English oak. It is hard as nails..!

Metal plaque measures 85 x 55mm and reads:

"This is a piece of the main timber frame from around the front door of theTudor cottage owned by John Lennon and later Ringo Starr. The Tudor cottage was situated next to the lake at Tittenhurst Park,Ascot, where the Imagine album was recorded. The Tudor cottage was also featured in the film 'Gimme Some Truth' - Themaking of John Lennon's Imagine. Tittenhurst Park was also used asthe backdrop for the final Beatles photoshoot on the 22nd August 1969.During ownership by Ringo Starr, Tittenhurst was used as a location forthe T-rex film 'Born To Boogie' and in the music video 'Back Off Boogaloo' ."

There is also a number of 200 and a scan of a John Lennon signature, which belongs to a friend of mine, who let me scan it.

The story behind this....Tittenhurst park was owned by John Lennon from the early 60's until the early 70's when the estate was purchased by Ringo Starr. The estate was eventually sold in 1988 to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.

We were the interior joinery and furnishing contractors for the complete project duration from 1988 until finish, starting in the main house and then working in various other buildings around the estate.

In the early 90's we were asked to quote on the rebuilding of the Tudor Cottage as the original was in a very poor state of repair and in a dangerous condition. The original Tudor Cottage was built in 1535, the date carved above the fireplace. The cottage was featured in the film 'Imagine' and Gimme some truth - The making of Imagine. The cottage was situated next to the lake, which featured in both films. John has the lake built in the mid 1960's without planning permission.

We won the contract for the re-building of an exact replica and work started in the early 1990's to demolish and prepare the site for the replica cottage to be re-built. On demolition myself and my father decided to save some pieces and took them back to our factory for storage.. We did this as when the recording studio was demolished, everything in it, on the orders of the project manager, were thrown into the swimming pool and burned. The pieces we saved were forgotten about for years until I came across them one day recently..

During the initial stages of the project we also removed the front door and stripped it, ready for refurbishment and replacement back onto the main house. The main house ended up with a brand new door and we were given the original door. This is the one which featured in the 'Imagine' music videos and films. Durinng the early 1990's we offered the door on loan to the Beatles Museum in Liverpool, who were not interested.. We decided to sell the door and contacted Christies sale House. They were delighted to sell it and it was entered into a music memorabilia sale - Catalogue page scan in pictures (Lot 517).
