Merle Haggard and The Strangers – Mama TriedVinyl Condition: Strong VGThe record has been cleaned and is conservatively graded VG. This is a very strong VG example, presenting very close to VG+ but conservatively graded VG because there are just a few too many non-feelable surface scratches for a VG+ grade.Overall, the vinyl remains quite clean and presents much better than many copies of this heavily played and popular Merle Haggard title. The conservative VG grade is intended to accurately account for the visible surface marks.Cover Condition: Strong VGThe sleeve is also graded VG and presents very close to VG+ overall. The artwork remains clean and attractive, especially considering the album’s age and popularity. The primary issues preventing a VG+ grade are that the bottom seam has been taped and there is some writing on the back cover. Aside from these flaws, the jacket remains a particularly clean and presentable vintage example.Released in 1968, Mama Tried is one of Merle Haggard and The Strangers’ signature albums. The classic title track “Mama Tried” became one of Haggard’s defining recordings and remains among the most recognizable songs of the Bakersfield country era.Overall, this is an unusually presentable VG/VG copy, with both the vinyl and sleeve approaching the next grade but conservatively graded to accurately reflect their flaws. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition and feel free to contact me with any questions. We take great pride in providing accurate and honest vinyl grading. After grading tens of thousands of records, we are confident in our process and always do our best to grade conservatively to create the best possible buyer experience. When a record or sleeve is close between two grades, we typically choose the lower grade so buyers receive an item that meets or exceeds expectations. Our goal is simple: provide a great listening experience while accurately representing both the vinyl and the beautiful artwork that makes these records so collectible. We want every buyer to feel confident and excited when adding one of our records to their collection.
