THE MEN OF NO PROPERTY — IRELAND: THE FINAL STRUGGLE
Original 1977 Paredon Records LP — P-1039
EX Play-Tested Vinyl | VG+ Jacket | Original 16-Page Booklet Included
Offered here is an original 1977 US vinyl pressing of Ireland: The Final Struggle — New Political Ballads by The Men of No Property, issued by the independent political folk label Paredon Records.
Recorded in Belfast during the Troubles, this album is both a collection of Irish political folk music and a fascinating historical document of its era. Featuring traditional Irish melodies alongside politically charged ballads, it captures the musical and political perspectives of a turbulent period in Northern Ireland’s history.
The Men of No Property recorded three albums for Paredon, with Ireland: The Final Struggle being their second release in the series.
ORIGINAL 1977 BOOKLET INCLUDED
Of particular interest is the exceptionally well-preserved original 16-page booklet accompanying this pressing.
Far more than conventional liner notes, the booklet provides historical commentary, song lyrics and political background, including an extensive article titled What Is the I.R.A. and Where Is It Going?, excerpted from a 1975 interview with Cathal Goulding, former Chief of Staff of the Irish Republican Army.
The booklet also contains original period printing and Paredon Records promotional material advertising other political folk releases.
It is an important component of the complete original album package, particularly for collectors interested in the history of Irish republicanism, political folk music, and recordings associated with the Troubles.
CONDITION — FULLY PLAY-TESTED
Vinyl: EX (Excellent) Playback — Both Sides
The entire record has been personally play-tested from beginning to end on both sides.
Playback is exceptionally clean and clear throughout, with only occasional faint surface sounds. Given the quiet, largely acoustic nature of these recordings, the remarkably low level of background noise is particularly impressive.
The performances retain excellent presence, detail and clarity, with no skips or significant playback issues encountered.
This is a genuinely excellent-playing copy, not merely a visual grade.
Jacket: VG+ (Very Good Plus)
Original 1977 jacket with age-appropriate discoloration, light edge and corner wear, and general signs of careful handling over nearly five decades. The front artwork and text remain clear and attractive, while the back presents particularly well.
No seam splits.
Original Booklet: EX (Excellent)
Original 16-page booklet included, exceptionally clean and well preserved. Pages are crisp and legible, with only minimal signs of age or handling. Please examine the photographs for its excellent overall preservation.
