LED ZEPPELIN II — 1969 ORIGINAL US FIRST PRESSING FEATURING THE LEGENDARY ROBERT LUDWIG "HOT MIX" ON SIDE ONE!
Up for sale/sale is a highly sought-after, early 1969 US transitional pressing of Led Zeppelin II (Atlantic SD 8236). This specific copy was pressed at the Columbia Records Pressing Plant in Terre Haute, Indiana ("CTH" suffix), a variant highly regarded by audiophiles for its exceptionally balanced tone and punchy mid-range dynamics.
This hybrid press is a fascinating piece of rock history, capturing the exact moment Atlantic Records scrambled to pull Robert Ludwig's original masterpiece from production. Side 1 features the rare, unrestricted RL "Hot Mix", while Side 2 utilizes the revised, standard mix mastered by Lee Hulko (LH).
💿 MATRIX / RUNOUT INFORMATION
• Side 1: ST-A-691671-A followed by the distinct handwritten RL and ss (Sterling Sound) signatures.
• Side 2: ST-A-691672-B followed by the faint LH and ss signatures.
• Labels: Green and orange Atlantic labels with the proper 1841 Broadway address and the CTH suffix at the bottom.
