LILO – C’EST MAGNIFIQUE! – 1957 MGM 7” EP – X 1537

Wonderful piece of 1950s Broadway, French cabaret and vocal-pop history featuring French singer and actress Lilo, the original Broadway star of Cole Porter’s Can-Can.

Lilo originated the role of La Môme Pistache in the original 1953 Broadway production and, with Peter Cookson, introduced Cole Porter’s “C’est Magnifique.” The song subsequently became a standard and was later performed by Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine in the 1960 film version of Can-Can.

This vintage 1957 MGM Records 7-inch EP (X 1537) captures Lilo in the sophisticated Parisian/Broadway vocal style for which she became known.

Side 1

• If You Love Me (Really Love Me)

• Paris-Canaille
