Kondrashin Shostakovich Complete SymphoniesCD Box Set (VICC-40094~103)1991 First CD Box Set on CD of Kondrashin’s Legendary Shostakovich Cycle

In 1991, Victor Japan released a rare 10-disc Kondrashin Shostakovich cycle exclusively. This edition, catalogued as VICC-40094~103, is widely regarded as the first complete digital remastering of Kondrashin’s recordings with the Moscow Philharmonic. It predates the later 2004–2006 Melodiya international releases by over a decade.

Victor (VICC) digitally mastered this Japan-only production from original Melodiya source tapes. It features premium early-1990s JVC transfer quality, consistent disc manufacturing, and clean archival presentation. This set was never reissued and is long absent from global catalogs. It remains one of the most historically significant and challenging-to-find Kondrashin cycles in physical format.

Collectors of Soviet-era masterings and JVC-engineered reissues will recognize this edition as a crucial transitional release between Melodiya’s analog archive and later worldwide remasters.
