Up for sale is a SEALED 180g vinyl LP of Josh at Midnight by JOSH WHITE — the audiophile Ramseur Records reissue of his landmark 1956 Elektra album.

Ramseur RAM-811. UPC 696859969683. Premium HQ-180 vinyl pressing by RTI (hype sticker intact). Still factory sealed in the original shrink wrap.

ABOUT THE MUSIC

Recorded over two nights in late 1955 in a converted Manhattan church with a single Telefunken U-47 microphone by Elektra founder Jac Holzman, Josh at Midnight finds Josh White delivering spare, impassioned performances of a dozen spirituals and blues numbers, accompanied by noted jazz bassist Al Hall and baritone vocalist Sam Gary. The record became one of Elektra's biggest sellers and revived White's career — Holzman himself calls it "probably the finest Josh White recording ever made," sixty years later still dazzling "with the radiance of a great artist, thoughtfully recorded." This reissue was remastered from the original masters with Holzman's participation, engineered by Bruce Botnick and mastered by Bernie Grundman — a labor of love for Ramseur founder Dolphus Ramseur, a lifelong White fan. Essential for blues, folk, and audiophile collectors.
