Genesis Foxtrot Vinyl LP 1972 Charisma CAS 1058 US First Press Gatefold VG+.

Up for sale is an exceptional original 1972 US stereo first pressing of Genesis’ foundational progressive rock masterpiece Foxtrot (Charisma Records, CAS 1058). Regarded as one of the most influential albums in the prog-rock canon, this definitive release features Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Steve Hackett at their creative peak. Includes the legendary, sprawling 23-minute side-long epic "Supper's Ready," alongside live staples like "Watcher of the Skies" and "Get 'Em Out by Friday."

This specific copy is a verified Keel Mfg. Corp. first pressing, as confirmed by the hand-etched "K" or "Keel" signature markings alongside the distinctive hand-etched "Union Jack" flag logo in the deadwax. Master processing metalwork parts originated from the Gilbert Kong layout run, tracked by the custom hand-etched "G.K." hallmark. Housed in its authentic 1972 vintage gatefold presentation jacket featuring Paul Whitehead's striking surrealist artwork cover, complete with the iconic original "The Famous Charisma Label" Mad Hatter center labels showing Buddah Records distribution.

Condition (Media/Sleeve): VG+ / VG (Vinyl looks great, displaying a deep black reflective mirror gloss under normal storage surface dust and fingerprints. It has sat safely unplayed for at least 7 years and shows only minor, superficial sleeve handling scuffs that do not affect playback quality; it will play with fantastic, warm clarity. The outer gatefold jacket is structurally solid but shows visible vintage storage shelf wear, with clear corner-edge rubbing, a light crease, and a distinct ding/softening on the upper-right corner tip as shown in the close-up photo. The record includes a white paper protective inner dust sleeve, which is completely intact).

Pressing Details: US First Pressing, Keel Mfg. Press, Union Jack Stamp, Gilbert Kong Mastering, Matrix Side A: CAS-1058-A-RE-2 G.K. [Union Jack Stamp].

Shipping: Ships securely in a dedicated cardboard vinyl mailer. The record will be carefully packaged inside a protective sleeve outside of the gatefold jacket cover to ensure no seam splits occur to the jacket during transit.

Note: This record is part of a massive collection of 1,300 albums that I lovingly inherited from my late father. They have been safely stored away for the last 7 years. Because of the sheer volume, I am grading them visually under bright light and cannot play-test every track. They are being sold in their authentic, as-found condition and will naturally have some light surface dust from storage, so they will benefit from a standard cleaning before playback. I am listing new titles daily! If you are looking for a specific artist or album from his era, please message me—I am happy to check the stacks for requests and combine shipping to save you money.
