The Southern Star – An Original Soundtrack Recording features the music from the 1969 adventure film starring George Segal, Ursula Andress, Orson Welles, Ian Hendry, Johnny Sekka and Harry Andrews. The original motion picture score was composed and conducted by Georges Garvarentz, with popular British vocalist Matt Monro performing the title song, “The Southern Star,” with lyrics by Don Black.

Released on Colgems Records as COSO-5009, this stereo soundtrack captures the film’s African adventure setting with a combination of orchestral action cues, dramatic themes and lighter melodic passages. The album includes “The Southern Star,” “Mademoiselle Erica,” “Fight in the Saloon,” “Danse Afrikaan,” “Ostrich Waltz,” “The Train to Adventure,” “The Hunt,” “Erica Takes a Bath” and other selections from the Garvarentz score.
