Angel Y2S-3749
7" Reel-to-Reel • 3¾ IPS • 4-Track Stereo
Equivalent to 2 LP Records

Here’s a very special classical reel.

Jacqueline du Pré and Daniel Barenboim together on a factory prerecorded Angel reel-to-reel tape, with more than 106 minutes of music spread across two programs.

Du Pré really needs no introduction. There are great cellists, and then there is Jacqueline du Pré. Put her together with Daniel Barenboim and this becomes one of those tapes where the performance matters every bit as much as the format.

And there is a LOT of music here.

Program One – 53:17

Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, K.467
Daniel Barenboim, piano & conductor
The English Chamber Orchestra

I. Allegro maestoso – Cadenza by Barenboim
II. Andante
III. Allegro vivace assai – Cadenza by Barenboim

Boccherini – Cello Concerto in B-flat
Jacqueline du Pré, cello
Daniel Barenboim, conductor
The English Chamber Orchestra

I. Allegro moderato – Cadenza by Grützmacher
II. Adagio non troppo
III. Rondo (Allegro) – Cadenza by Grützmacher

Program Two – 52:53

Beethoven – Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57 “Appassionata”
Daniel Barenboim, piano

I. Allegro assai – Più allegro
II. Andante con moto
III. Allegro ma non troppo – Presto

Brahms – Cello Sonata No. 2 in F, Op. 99
Jacqueline du Pré, cello
Daniel Barenboim, piano

I. Allegro vivace
II. Adagio affettuoso
III. Allegro passionato
IV. Allegro molto

Condition

Tape: The tape itself looks exceptionally clean. It is wound evenly and presents very nicely on the original reel. The original Angel program label remains attached to the reel.

Box: This is where the age shows. The original box has substantial shelf and edge wear, particularly around the perimeter, corners and spine. There are scuffs, rubbing and areas of surface loss. The interior is quite clean.

Please look carefully at all of the photographs. They are part of the description and show the exact tape and box you will receive.

I’d much rather describe an old tape conservatively and have somebody pleasantly surprised than pretend a 50-year-old box just came off the shelf yesterday.

And really, with this one the important part is what's on the reel.
