Deface The 80's LP Detroit Compilation- (1980) Cinecyde, The Cubes, The 27, Mark J Norton, Rushlow-King Combo, Service, The Ivories. Tremor TRLP101. I’m Gary Reichel and I put this compilation together back in 1980. Tremor Records was a cooperative where these bands came together and helped each other release records. Detroit had a pretty good Punk, New Wave scene back in the late 1970’s. This album covers part of what was going on then. Liner notes written by David Keeps. Front cover from Paul Zimmerman. Back cover Gary Grimshaw. This is a new and sealed album.
Cinecyde has continuously played and their latest release, Vegetable Or Thing is available on . The Cubes’ Carolyn Striho, has received numerous awards and accolades and performs regularly. The 27 moved to New York, changed their name to Pack Nine and after several years, broke up. Leader, Steve McGuire has been and continues to be the lead sound engineer for The Cult. Mark J Norton, originally lead vocalist for The Ramrods, formed The 27, left the band and reverted to his family name, Ivan Suvanjieff. He moved to Spain and is an internationally renowned fine art painter with exhibits around the world. He also made a series of documentaries known as Detroit Punks. Rushlow-King recorded with famed producer, Don Was, but broke up. Steve King went on to become a huge producer, writer, musician and is all over the second Eminem album. Sadly, Steve left us several years ago. Service reformed several years ago and has been active in the Detroit scene. The Ivories broke up shortly after this disc was released, but guitarist, Larry Ray went on the the beloved Outrageous Cherry.
Deface The 80’s was the first in a series of six compilation albums documenting the Detroit scene.
