Recorded September 24th 1969 at Royal Albert Hall, London. First issued (gatefolded) in December 1969 in U.S.A. on Tetragrammaton Records T 131. (This edition was short lived as the company went bust in early 1970). The distribution in U.S.A. was then managed by Warner Bros. WS 1860. First UK edition on Harvest SHVL 767 in January 1970 (Two versions are in circulation: V1 laminated only outside and printed by E.J.Day - V2 laminated inside as well and printed by Gerrard & Lofthouse). Four different vinyl versions in Japan chronological (all Warner Bros.): BP 8962 (June 1970), P 8093W, P 6504W, P10331W (1976).

Recorded from October 1969 to April 1970 at the IBC Studio, De Lane Lea Studios and Abbey Road Studios, all in London. First issued in UK, June 1970 on Harvest SHVL 777: The original album came in a gatefold sleeve. The inner gatefold had lyrics on left and five black & white photos of the individual band members on the right and text on the right. The earliest copies are those which have one line around the EMI logo on the front.

Recorded between 6th and 21st December 1971 at the Grand Hotel in Montreux/Switzerland, using the Rolling Stones Mobile Unit. First released March 1972 in UK on Purple Records TPSA-7504 (1e064-93261), as Qudrophonic mix on Purple Records QTPSA-7504, in US on Warner Bros BS-2607, in Germany on Purple Records 1c072-93261-1, in France on Purple Records TPSA-7504 (2c064-93261), in Italy on Purple Records 3c064-93261, in Japan on Warner Bros P-8224W. First CD-release 1986 in UK on EMI CDP 7 46242 2. In 1997 a remastered Anniversary Edition came out as a 2 CD Set incl. extensive liner notes on EMI 7243 8 59506 2 9 in UK and Europe. It consisted of remastered and remixed album tracks, two quadrophonic mixes and a bonus single b-side.
