This is the programme for the world premiere of Malcolm Arnold’s Symphony No. 1, Op. 22, which the composer himself conducted with the Hallé Orchestra on this date.

Boldly signed on the front cover in ink: “Malcolm Arnold / July 1951” – a contemporary signature from the time of the premiere.

Condition: Good used condition for its age. Cream paper with light toning and minor creasing/handling consistent with a 75-year-old festival programme. Signature clear and strong. Please examine the photos carefully.

A scarce and desirable association piece for collectors of British music, Malcolm Arnold, the Hallé Orchestra, or Sir John Barbirolli.
