Through the phonograph record,Arthur Murray tells you how to dance the steps to music.CAUTION! Be sure you have mastered the steps in each dancebefore you attempt to dance it to the music.First learn to do each dance pattern slowly, without music. Afteran hour of practice, try it with the phonograph record.WHY YOU SHOULD LEARN TO DANCE ALONE AT FIRSTDancing is a muscular exercise and, as with all such activity, calls for smoothly coordinated movement. This takes repetitionof action to attain, and until you do practice sufficiently yourmuscles cannot perform with ease and grace.PLACEMENT OF WEIGHT Whenever you take a step of anykind, as indicated by a numbered left or right footprint, alwaysplace your weight on that foot. This is important! The only time you do not place your weight on the foot that youmove is when the footprint is drawn in a dotted line. In suchcase, you merely touch your foot to the floor as the pattern indi-cates and retain your weight on the standing foot.HOW TO STUDY Remember that the instructions on thesepages will tell you, in full, exactly what to do. The diagrams andillustrations are given as an additional aid, to help you to visual-ize and follow the written instructions. So, before starting anew pattern:Read all printed instructions. Study the footprints to picture thepattern mentally as you will be doing it. Memorize the way tocount the step. Know the step pattern thoroughly before tryingit with music. After you have learned to dance in rhythm, practice for onehour to album.lp5748-BE
