Marcy Playground Biography

John Wosniak - Vocals

Dylan Keefe - Bass

Dan Rieser - Drums

When two Minneapolis boys met up with a fellow from Ohio Marcy Playground was formed. John Wosniak (vocals), Dylan Keefe (bass), and Dan Rieser (Drums) christened their group Marcy Playground in the mid 90's after Wosniaks elementary school. Tortured by other children, Wosniak refused to join in at the playground. This sullen time became an artistic foundation for the future Marcy Playground.

Marcy signed on with Capitol Records which lead to the release of their self titled inaugural album in 1997. The single Sex and Candy rocketed the band into mainstream success which lead them into the coveted platinum status. The funky mellow alternative sound kept fans lapping for more while critics penned the group as a one hit wonder.

The groups 1999 release of Shapeshifter ended up nowhere fast. Sluggish sales predicted an ultimately unfruitful second album. As with shapeshifter MP3, released in 2004, rang in with less than stellar charting. Sequential records aside, Marcy Playground branded their mark upon pop culture with their folkish catchy sound.
