Click Here To Report An Error The first string to tune is the A string (5A) . The A tune is usually fixed at 440 Hertz, to have the right A tune you must use a "DIAPASON." Beat the Diapason on a table or something of the like and lean it on the soundboard of your guitar. Now you are able to hear the right A Tune. Hit the A free string and pitch to the correct sound pulling-up or pulling-down the string.
Now we tune the 6E string. Put the finger on the 5° fret and hit the string, now hit the 5A free string. To be tuned the pitch of the 6E sting fretted on the 5° fret must be the same of the 5A free string.
We will tune now the 4D string. Put your finger on the 5A string at the 5° fret and hit the string, hit now the 4D free string. To be tuned the pitch of the 4D free string must be the same of the 5A string fretted at the 5° fret.
Tune now the 3G string. Put the finger on the 4D string at the 5° fret and hit the string, hit now the 3G free string. To be tuned the pitch of the 3G free string must be the same of the 4D string fretted at the 5° fret.
Now we will tune the 2B string. Put your fingers on the 3G string at the 4° fret and hit the string, hit now the 2B free string. To be tuned the pitch of the 2B free string must be the same of the 3G string fretted at the 4° fret.
The last one now, the 1E string. Put the fingers on the 2B string at the 5° fret and hit the string, now hit the 1E free string. To be tuned the pitch of the 1E free string must be the same of the 2B string fretted on 5° fret.
Now your guitar is well tuned, have some fun ! If you want an easier way, buy an electronic or digital guitar tuner :)
