Spoken word vinyl LP "Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle... And Other Modern Verse," featuring readings by Ellen Holly and Paul Hecht from the popular poetry anthology compiled by Stephen Dunning, Edward Lueders, and Hugh Smith.

This is a 12-inch 33 1/3 RPM long-playing non-breakable microgroove record on black vinyl with English-language performances of modern poems intended for classroom and educational listening.

The back cover lists two full sides of tracks, beginning with Eve Merriam's "How to Eat a Poem" and continuing with a wide range of contemporary verse selections, with poets and running times printed for each piece.

Biographical notes on the reverse describe Paul Hecht's stage and broadcasting work in Canada, New York, and London, and Ellen Holly's career in New York theatre, Broadway productions, and television.

Packaging consists of a large square hinged cardboard case with the title in bold black type above a color photograph of a child and a slice of watermelon on the front and black-and-white author portraits with extensive liner notes and complete track listing on the back.

Inside the case is a matching paperback edition of "Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle... And Other Modern Verse" from Scholastic Book Services, including the full text of "How to Eat a Poem" on the back cover.

U.S. pressing from 1970, catalog number FS 2700, ideal for collectors of vintage educational records, spoken word, and poetry anthologies.
