Vintage 1950s Italian Sorrento Inlaid Wood Music Box WORKS ("Torna a Surriento"):
$35.00

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic mid-century Sorrento Ware inlaid wood music box, hand-crafted in Italy. Sold As/Is.This is a beloved family heirloom that has been safely stored inside a climate-controlled home since the 1960’s
The Highlights:
• Flawless Mechanical Condition: The wind-up mechanism on the bottom functions perfectly. When you open the lid, it beautifully and clearly plays the classic, romantic Neapolitan melody "Torna a Surriento" (Come Back to Sorrento).
• Intricate Marquetry & Hand-Painted Accents: The top lid features stunning, detailed wood inlay scrolling. The design is beautifully enhanced with original, crisp, hand-painted cream highlights that follow the leaf borders, giving the entire piece incredible contrast and artistic dimension.
• Clean Interior: The inside features a clean wood layout with a built-in compartment cover protecting the musical movement.
Condition / Flaw Disclosures (Please Review Photos):
To ensure total transparency for the next collector, this heirloom is being sold strictly As-Is due to two easily manageable flaws .
1. Top Hinge Detachment: The original tiny pins/nails holding the rear brass piano hinge to the top lid have come out (see photos). The hinge itself is fully intact and just needs three tiny replacement hobby pins tapped into the pre-existing holes to be perfectly secure again.
2. Surface Water Stain: There is a faint, dark horizontal water shadow line cutting across the top right quadrant of the lid's wood grain. It does not affect the lacquer finish or the wood structure, blending naturally into the vintage patina of the piece.
Exact Dimensions:
• Length: 5.5 inches
• Width: 4.125 inches (4 1/8")
• Height: 2.25 inches (2 1/4" including the legs)
This is a wonderful, highly collectible piece of Italian craftsmanship with a clear history, perfect as a functional display piece or a quick, simple weekend restoration project for a vintage enthusiast!
