About Tatsuro Yamashita

If you're new to Tatsuro Yamashita, let me put it this way: this guy isn't just a musician - he's a movement. He debuted in 1975 with Sugar Babe ( DOWN TOWN , anyone?) and dropped CIRCUS TOWN in 1976, kicking off a solo career that would define the City Pop genre . By the time RIDE ON TIME hit in 1980, Tatsuro was a household name.

And let's not forget Christmas Eve - the song that's been a holiday staple in Japan for over 30 years. In 2022, Tatsuro proved he's still got it with SOFTLY , his first original album in 11 years, which debuted at #1 on the Oricon charts.
