Released in 2004 under the Sony Classical record label, this soundtrack offers fans of the iconic Star Wars franchise a special and unique addition to their music collection.A.I. OVERVIEW
The Sony DSD Star Wars CD box sets from 2004 refer to the "Star Wars Trilogy" Special Edition soundtrack releases. This collection features John Williams’ scores for Episodes IV, V, and VI, famously remastered by Sony Classical using Direct Stream Digital (DSD) technology.THE 2004 DSD CD BOX SETSWHAT'S INSIDE:
The silver box set bundles the 2-CD soundtracks for A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi into a single collection. This makes a total of 6 CDs.PACKAGING:
The release is generally housed in a sleek silver exterior, with some iterations featuring unique lenticular covers for each of the three movie soundtracks.AUDIO QUALITY:
Sony Masterworks utilized DSD technology to transfer the music from the original session masters. While highly praised by many for its clarity, some audiophiles and forum users on platforms like the Steve Hoffman Music Forums debate if the DSD process yields a massive difference from the previous 1997 RCA releases.
.
I CAN TELL YOU FIRST HAND THE SONY DSD CDS SOUND GREAT! I OWNED THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS LPS 1977, EMPIRE STRIKES BACK LPS 1980, AND RETURN OF THE JEDI LPS 1983 AND THESE SONY CDS SOUND AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RECORDINGS!
