An exceptionally scarce and unusually complete Japanese red-vinyl pressing of Pink Floyd’s debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

This is the 1970 second Japanese issue, released by Odeon Records as OP-80281 and pressed on translucent red Everclean vinyl. It was subsequently sold during Pink Floyd’s 1971 Japanese visit and includes both the standard pink “ROCK NOW” obi and the narrow red tour obi.

The Japanese edition also includes “See Emily Play” as an additional track at the end of Side Two.

The red vinyl retains excellent gloss and shows scattered light sleeve marks and faint hairlines under strong direct lighting. Playback is excellent overall, with clear, strong sound. There are a few isolated passages containing soft background static, but these are brief and do not materially detract from the listening experience.

Sleeve: VG+

The laminated sleeve presents beautifully with strong color and excellent front-cover artwork. It has light corner and edge wear, a few small corner creases and minor age-related handling wear. There are no major seam splits or writing.

Pink Rock Now obi: EX-

Bright and highly presentable, with the original replenishment/order tag still attached. It shows minor age-related creasing and handling wear, primarily on the reverse.

Red tour obi: EX

The scarce 1971 Japan-visit commemorative obi is complete and displays extremely well from the front. It has some creasing and handling wear on the reverse.

The lyric insert and promotional card are both intact and in very good condition, with only light age toning and handling wear.

This is an extremely difficult pressing to locate on red vinyl with both original obis and the accompanying promotional materials still together. An outstanding collector’s copy of one of Pink Floyd’s most important Japanese releases.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. The record will be packed securely with the vinyl removed from the sleeve for shipment.
