👋 Hey music collectors! AnalogDaddy here. If you remember dialing in to me in Bay Area, New York, Monterey Bay or on XM… or caught me spinning at the Virgin Megastore SF back in the day, you know I live and breathe music and pristine sound. Today, I'm pulling a legendary item out of the sound booth: the New Order - RETRO 4-CD Box Set (Rhino Records, Cat# R2 73834).

This massive 4-disc set is an absolute masterclass in alternative and dance music history, splitting their legacy into four beautifully curated themes: Pop, Album tracks, Remixes, and legendary Live recordings.

🎚️ Sound Quality & Mastering: 👂 🎼

Rhino did an incredible job with the mastering of this specific US pressing. The low-end punch on Blue Monday and the crisp synth transients on Bizarre Love Triangle sound remarkably dynamic compared to older, flatter compilations. If you care about detail, soundstage, and spatial depth, this is the version you want cranked up on a good system! 🔊 🎵

🔍 Condition Breakdown: 💿

The Discs: Graded EX to NM (Excellent to Near Mint). They have been meticulously cared for, showing almost no wear and playing flawlessly from start to finish. See photos for reference. All discs PLAY TESTED. No issues.
The Spine: Has a standard paperboard crease. It’s my ultimate pet peeve with these digipak styles, but it's very common from sitting on a shelf.
Disc 3 Tray: There is a visible crack on the clear glued plastic right where the CD snaps onto the hub. I completely blame flimsy manufacturing on these sets! The good news? It is only halfway through the plastic, has zero sharp edges, and does not cause loose fragments. The hub still holds the disc securely.
The booklet: NM (Near Mint) condition with no creases, fingerprints or skin oils.Outer paperboard case has a couple of light spots with general shelf wear. See photos.
