To circumvent these corporate restrictions and cash in on international demand, labels used pseudonyms like The Harlem Footwarmers to slip Ellington\'s genius onto Parlophone shellac. Musically, the record captures two distinct regional branches of jazz evolution: the polished, \"cool,\" and technical studio architecture of the white New York elite on the A-side, contrasted beautifully against the fiery, propulsive, and deeply expressive polyphonic brilliance of Ellington\'s Black innovators on the B-side.
