THIS INCLUDES:Donald Byrd & Gigi Gryce - XTACY- 1974 Trip Jazz TLP-5016 - US - stereo - Interesting album as“Xtacy” is not a Donald Byrd album title. It is a track that appeared onJazz Lab, credited toGigi Gryce & Donald Byrd. Originally recorded in 1957 and featured lineup is a major attraction. You haveByrd, Gryce, Hank Jones, Paul Chambers and Art Taylor—five important figures from the New York jazz scene of the period. It also comes from the relatively short-livedGryce/Byrd Jazz Lab collaboration, which makes the record interesting beyond Byrd's individual discography. Warner describes Gryce and Byrd as two leading intellectual figures of the hard-bop era who formed this group.
SLEEVE - some corner/edge wear, small punch out bottom right and slight seam tear VINYL - nice gloss, couplemarks on each side but does not seem to affect play, a bit of crackle at start of side B and some in a few spots here and there, overall pretty good sound for 1974 ONE OWNER ALBUM PART OF MY LATE FATHERS JAZZ COLLECTIONSEE MY OTHER JAZZ ALBUMS - WILL BE ADDING DIFFERENT TITLES EACH WEEK!
