1960s/70s Del Rey Model G 465 Classical Guitar. PLAYABLE PROJECT. This is another one of my project guitars that I have no time to devote to. Beautiful guitar, well made multi ply bindings front and rear. Very well made laminate construction. Guitar has a very sweet and very clear sound well balanced between bass and treble. Because of it's sound and beauty it is worth the effort to bring it back into spec. Most repairs are not expensive but time consuming. Guitar has only very lite pick marks and swirling in top finish. Guitar has action 5mm at the 12th. There is very little room left for adjustment at the bridge saddle. The backside of body has some bowing and neck has a hairline crack appearing at the sea. See last 4 pictures. The bowing is from dehydration. All though stored at correct humidity guitar needs to be rehydrated and this will will bring or mostly bring the bowing back to flat. That in it's self may help with string height as well as it may pull the top down some. Many ways to accomplish this I have found the bagging of a guitar with a wet sponge to be the best. However this method requires weeks or more to complete. There are many videos on this out there. The hairline crack is stable during it's time with me but it could easily be filled with some number 10 super glue to make sure it stays stable. After rehydration of body the string height may be very close to were it should be. If not it has a very thick bridge on it that i would sand down and reslot to get desired string height. much less costly then having a neck reset unless you are skilled in this are of repair.If you want a great playing and sweet sounding M.I.J classical for cheap and have the time and patience to devote to it this guitar is worth the effort.
