This 1968 soundtrack album Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter featuring the British beat group Herman's Hermits.

Because it is a motion picture soundtrack containing both pop songs and instrumental score pieces, it features a diverse lineup of composers and songwriters:

Major Songwriters & Composers

Mickie Most & Peter Noone: Wrote the original track "The Most Beautiful Thing in My Life."

Trevor Peacock: Composed multiple songs specifically for the film, including "It's Nice to Be Out in the Morning," "There Is a Kind of Hush (All Over the World)," and "Lemon and Lime."

Keith Hopwood & Derek Leckenby: The Herman's Hermits guitarists composed the instrumental background cue tracks.

Geoff Stephens & Les Reed: Wrote the upbeat pop tracks featured on the album.

Ron Goodwin: Orchestrated, conducted, and composed the film's sweeping instrumental score segments.

Plot Summary

The Inheritance: Herman (played by lead singer Peter Noone) inherits a prize racing greyhound from his grandfather. Inexplicably, the dog is named Mrs. Brown.

The Goal: Herman and his working-class bandmates from Manchester decide to travel to "Swinging London" to enter the dog into the high-stakes Greyhound Derby to make their fortune.

The Hustle: Lacking the money for the steep race entry fees, the group plays local music gigs and takes up temporary jobs at a London fruit market to raise the cash.

The Romance: While navigating the dog-racing world, Herman crosses paths with a human family named Brown. He falls heavily for their daughter, Judy, an aspiring fashion model—giving a literal meaning to the film and song title.

The Climax: Amidst romantic mix-ups, a street-fight brawl, and briefly losing the dog at a busy train station, Mrs. Brown wins the big race. The film ends on a lighthearted note with the band performing their hit songs.
