    Classic Mahalia Jackson

    Once in a while a classic recording emerges. Often it is forgotten and never discovered. This is Gospel music at its simplistic Best, alternating mellow contemplations of the standards Silent Night, White Christmas, and Little Town of Bethlehem "pronounced Beth-lee-hem" on this LP, and true gospel rockers of The Holy Babe, Go Tell it on the Mountain, and No Room at the Inn. It does not get better than this. The LP glides through 10 sweet tracks ready to be listened to again and again. A truly remarkable achievement. Mahalia Jacksons voice emits pathos of Holy Irony accompanied only by piano, acoustic bass and vibraphone. Magic!

    Mahalia Jackson - The Greatest!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! She was the greatest singer who ever lived, and especially her Christmas songs put the spirit in me - want to dance one minute & cry the next. Nobody has EVER sung with such feeling. I love her like she was my mother. She will always be in a class by herself - she has no equal. There will never be another Mahalia Jackson! God Himself is being entertained by her in person now. I sure hope I will be too one day.

    Who can beat Mahalia Jackson for good ol' gospel?! Played it all through the Christmas season - it was great.

    Great CD and Great Singer!

    I remember listening to the album for years at my mother's every Chrismas season. Beautiful! Love listen to this magnificient voice again!!

    Miss the voice

    What a set of pipes,again goes back to a studio who had talent and new how to work it.They made fun of Phil spector,but he set the pace and I think a lot of studios,took good advantage of his steps in music.
