Anyone who has not seen the television series,Lost In Space,directed by Irwin Allen is missing one of the BEST science fiction shows ever.I remember it well because I was just a few years younger than Will Robinson,Billy Mumy in 1965.I was fascinated by space travel since the Gemini Space Project was in full swing in 1965,and the USA was in a space race to the moon with the Russians.Would we(USA) beat the Russians to the Moon? The Apollo Project was in the development stages only,yet to be tested.Lost In Space continued our imagination with space travel.What would it be like to travel to our Solar System and our nearest star,Alpha Centauri? This was the Lost In Space premise coupled with a science fiction twist on The Swiss Family Robinson,hence, The Robinson Family in outer space.It was ... This was the Lost In Space premise coupled with a science fiction twist on The Swiss Family Robinson,hence, The Robinson Family in outer space.It was fantastic to say the least.So great that more adults watched the pilot episode,The Reluctant Stowaway than kids.Unfortunately,Allen and Jonathan Harris(Dr.Smith) changed the personality of Dr.Smith to a bumbling,fumbling,scared of his own shadow,type of personality to appeal to children in order for kids not be scared of the evil Dr.Smith and the evil B-9 Robot (in the pilot episode).Allen spent thousands of dollars on the set,with extras in the pilot episode.In my mind,the LIS pilot episode,The Reluctant Stowaway was and still is the best pilot TV episode ever.If you watch only one episode of LIS,please watch the pilot episode-the BEST ever.Now the music,This 2 CD set is music from one of best,award-winning film composers ever,John Williams.He is better known as the film composer of the Star Wars movies,Indiana Jones,etc..YES,THAT John Williams,but he started out in the Lost In Space television show.His brilliance and genius can be heard on Disc 1 of this set.The music is taken from the first 5-6 episodes of LIS on Disc 1.The digital quality is amazing,and you hear some instrument sounds of the orchestra for the first time.Astounding.The music on the tv show in the 1960's was at low volume,in the background and to provide emphasis on the plot of the LIS shows.The soundtrack was often muffled,not too clear(a mono TV sound),but described as a warm and soft sound,but never detracted from the viewing of the show.The DVD versions of LIS television show is fantastic visually w/the music.BUT... and THIS is a BIGGG BUT....to hear this CD without ever watching the Lost In Space dvds or for younger viewers who have NO idea what the LIS shows would be about,the music only would be too confusing and out of context.You really wouldn't know what you were listening to.For a huge fan of LIS,like myself, listening to this CD set takes your mind to the stories of the LIS series immediately.One reviewer wrote,you're not supposed to hear all the music this well. I do agree,but it puts a big smile on your face when you do and takes you back to the 1960's when the show started.SOOO,younger viewers-watch the LIS DVD's first,THEN and ONLY then listen to the CD's.And older viewers,like myself,ENJOY the clarity and musical surprises on the CD.ENJOYYY!!!!

I went in search of the elusive " Family " underscore, you know, the one that kind of reminds you of "There's No Place Like Home " that is so sentimental with its woodwinds and violins ? Well there is that and so much more on this 2 cd set that pays tribute to LIS and its team of incomparable composers, most notably John Williams . Remember the music from " The Promised Planet " with its groovy 60's sound ? Yes friends , that is there as well. A word of caution though. Playing this music in your land chariot may cause anxiety, thrills, and impel you to try to reach hyperspace !! 5 stars out of 5 !!If you are a fan of the LIS soundrack, then look no further. LOST IN SPACE TV SHOW MUSIC
There really isn't much to say. It was a great product and it's what I wanted. Ther product came in excellent condition and the music was clear. I really missed John Williams music from the old days and it was great to hear it again on CD. It brings back good memories for me as a child and that's why I love it. This is worth every penny.
