These Horner Bluesband harmonicas in the 7 major keys are the genuine article and I checked the tuning with my old Bluesband harmonicas, but I didn't have all of the keys until I bought this set. These are wonderful harmonicas and I can overpressurize them without them dropping out while bending notes to the maximum because I'm a human wind machine. When I opened the box, I tried each key, and once I start playing I don't want to stop improvising because being creative is better than watching TV

Happy is playing the blues on a Hohner Set

Making music is good for the soul. Playing harmonica is good for the lungs. When you are all alone, a whole set of harmonicas in a convenient carrying case is the BFF of musical instruments. One "harp" or all can go with you when you are social-distancing indoors or out without taking up too much space.1

    Dissappointing

I confused the name of this instrument with another of Hohner's products but, that was my own fault. I find these harps to be very hard to blow and especially hard to draw/breath in, especially when compared to my old Marine Band Harmonicas. Pitch is not good on a couple of them. They have a very breathy sound, overall. I opened up the F harp to see if there was anything I could do to improve their response but, no amount of changing the gap made any difference. The comb is not designed to make it easy to level. I will say the case is easily worth $25 so, it isn't a complete waste of money. My intention now is to gradually change out the harps for a better model or brand and just keep the case. I might eventually give these to a child who doesn't have anything to compare them to ...

  • Definitely a beginner set

I love playing and enjoyed this set, but it's just pretty junky. Harps lose tune quickly and some may come not ready to play out of the box. I needed to reset multiple gaps on two of the harps because they came either too open or closed. Not a big deal but be very careful when adjusting these because it doesn't take much to snap a tab off. Besides that I can play pretty much whatever with this kit. Great for someone getting their toes wet!

  • Don't waste your money on these

Don't buy these. These are no more than a child's toy. Some believe that if you're just beginning to play, you shouldn't buy first quality harps. That philosophy will only frustrate the one who is trying to learn. If the quality of the harmonicas is poor, interest in learning will stop. Buy a set of decent harmonicas. Go ahead and spend the extra money on a set of Marine Band harps. You won't be sorry. But you will be disappointed with these Chinese-made Hohner "Bluesband" harmonicas. Spend the extra money and buy the German-made Marine Bands.

  • No for serious music

These are not suitable for serious playing. I bought them as a Christmas present for my soon to be 7 year old grandson who has shown an interest in learning to play. I expect it to be an inexpensive way to judge his interest and aptitude. That said, as a player myself, I tested them out before wrapping them up. I had to take 3 of the 7 harps apart and adjust the gapping of the reeds just to get them to play and they are still pretty marginal. These are not Geman made Hohners, they are Chinese and the difference in quality is shocking. Still, I got a full set of the most used keys for less than the price of a single Hohner Special 20 and the case is very nice.
