Notes
As the leader of seminal seventies band Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter ripped straight through the hypocrisy and broken ideals of the hippie generation, cutting a jagged swath through popular music and paving the way for the punk rock revolution. After Mott the Hopple's final break-up in 1974, Ian Hunter pressed on as a solo artist releasing 11 solo albums to date. Now, with SHRUNKEN HEADS, the man that has influenced bands from the Clash to Oasis is still affecting today's most groundbreaking artists (Jeff Tweedy of Wilco collaborates on three tracks), recording with his beloved band Sooxie Tyrell, Graham Maby among other luminary sidemen and offering characteristically wry commentary on today's political climate.

Great Experience. Packaged well. Everything was in a case, I did not expect that based on the description, so that was great. They did have stickers on them from a library but I knew that in advance and they play fantastic. Great price. Fast Shipping. I recommend this seller

  • Often Bitten, Still Not Shy

I just received the cd today and it's been playing all day. Hunter's one of most underrated rockers, and this will not make him a household name, but his fans will find it to be one of his best efforts (including the Mott albums). Hopefully, this will cause some people to revisit the rest of his catalog. He's one of the wittiest and thought provoking writers of the last 40 years. If you like this, and not familiar with his work, try "Ian Hunter"(1975), "All-American Alien Boy"(1976), and "Rant"(2001)

  • Ian Hunter: Shrunken Heads (+ limited 3-track CD)

Ian Hunter has come into his own with _Shrunken Heads._ Best known as the front man for '70s band Mott the Hoople--as well as his solo work with former "Spiders from Mars" Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson, Hunter rocked in the late '70s and survived the high-tech drama of the '80s. His best work of late is the 2001 project, _Rant._ The new project, _Shrunken Heads,_ tops his finest work, with honesty (the opener: "Big Mouth"), socio-political commentary ("How's Your House," regarding Hurricane Katrina survivors, and "Soul of America"), social commentary ("Brainwashed" and "Stretch"), and humour ("I Am What I Hated When I Was Young"). Musically, Hunter merges his rock and roll roots with some tinges of influence from his "E-Street" days, with the best of co-producer/guitarist Andy York's _Rant_ ...

  • Gotta get it!

OK, I'm a huge fan, but I'll try to be impartial. This latest release has a crisp, updated sound--not sure where the new influences are coming from, but on top of the reliable harmonica, drum & guitar riffs all us fans know & love, there are some really exciting new rythms & sounds--some very modern sounds. Most of the songs are very Dylanesque either in melody of lyrics, but with Ian's unmistakeable drive & introspection. Songs like "Brainwashed" & "How's your house" have an intense rock beat, but are also pretty topical. Some are witty & cynnical ("Fuss about nothing"), sensitive, sad ("Guiding Light, Read 'em & weep), & funny old codger rants ("I am what I hated when I was young"). Like all of his albums you'll find songs to dance to, sing to, laugh to & think to.

  • Excellent CD, Every track is ggreat

This is one of those rare CD's where after a few listens you don't skip any songs and you want to play it over and over. Great musicians in this band, Andy York (Mellencamp) Steve Holley (P.M. and Wings) list just keeps going. Best album ever put out by the Great Ian Hunter, although "Rant" is a close second. Buy it, you'll love it, I guarantee.
