Comedian, actor, author, and banjo player Steve Martin releases his first musical recording since 1978s number 1 hit King Tut. This is no novelty record though. It's some of the best banjo music to come down the pike in a long time. The Crow features able assistance from some of Steve's pals, including Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Earl Scruggs, and Bila Fleck. Steve Martin has created a masterpiece guaranteed to exceed expectations.
I have just started to learn how to play the banjo so I wanted have a CD in the car to listen to for my commute back and forth to work. I didn't realize when I purchased this that all of the songs on this CD were written by Steve Martin except for one. This is great stuff. I liked it so much that for the first 10 days I kept in in the radio and listened to it over and over. The songs are fun to listen to and the orchestration if fantastic. Mr Martin has created a masterpiece and the vocals are done by C&W artists with the exception of late to school which he sings. This is one fun to listen to CD. One of the songs is Saga of the Old West. I think it is impossible to listen to this song and not visualize the opening of a great western movie. I have purchased a couple of ... The rest of the band is truly enjoyable to listen to . The tunes are catchy & Steve Martin adds his humor to his music which is just the best to listen to . Even if you are not into banjo music-keep an open mind--you may find this really excellent to hear.
