  • BLINDSIDE "The Great Depression"

Music: Hardcore/Rapcore Label: DRT/Wasa Recordings Country: Sweden BLINDSIDE have been playing for 10 years now. ‘The Great Depression’ is influenced by Christian Lindskog’s trip to Africa, where he had seen many unpleasant things. Those mentioned ‘things’ pushed him to write songs based on the situation in which are the people living on this continent. And it seems that this idea influenced this album too much. This alternative production is a release which left me having mixed feelings, after listening to it. Why is that? The answer is really simple: more and more bands are trying to shine on the scene by playing such music, i.e. that mixture of hardcore and alternative rock. I have to admit, that BLINDSIDE are doing it pretty well, although the ideas are old fashioned and do ...

  • not great, yet not depressing either

As with some rapcore, there is some unpredictability here that still makes this band unique. The screamo can be both shrill and harmonious, and the alternating between the two is somewhat different. Holistically, this CD is ok, with only a few highlights. Production is decent. Heart Attack would be the best song to preview if not sure of personal interest in this CD. Ask Me puts out some surprising melody. In Love with the Game would be the only song approaching hit status, and it's a good one. Alibi and This Time are interesting attempts at alt-rock ballads. However, by songs 9 & 10 the CD starts to drag out. While you are often wondering what's next as you listen in, some songs make you glad you hung in there and others leave you wondering. There are some dark and depressing lyrics here, ...

  • Ascending the tier to perfection!

Once again the group Blindside produces another awesome Cd. The Great Depression is just another step of the tier of perfection enhancing their music capabilities and lyrics. A fan cannot just judge the Cd itself if you have never listened to the other Cds they have out, but instead think of it as part of a whole which melds into a pictersque scene of music and truth combined with their other Cds. Truly we are in a great depression of heartache in this country, and Blindside touches us in the hidden places where we cannot hide from the truth any longer.

  • The Great Depression

This CD is amazing. "Fell in Love With the Game" and "ask me now" have to be two of there best songs.
