    Alexander "Eck" Campbell Robertson is one of the great Old-Time Texas Fiddlers ranking with the likes of Luke and Benny Thomasson of Midnight on the Water fame. This Compact Disk features 16 of perhaps the earliest recordings of this music genre and includes tunes some of which were already considered venerable old classics in the mid-to-late 1800s. Most notably it features Eck's version of Ragtime Annie that is considered the Standard for this traditional piece. Other selections include Arkansas Traveller, Great Big Taters (aka Sally Ann), Sallie Gooden, Turkey in the Straw, and the very popular antebellum tune politically correctly re-titled here as Run, Boy, Run. The Sound Engineering in terms of instrumental balance, clarity, and minimal static is much better than would be expected ...
