    Where for art though Helmet??

    Sorry but I just couldn't get behind this any more than I could the "Size Matters". I truly beleive that something is lost when bands change members too many times. It happens all the time, but still I try to find an exception to that rule. It wasn't found here, as Size and Monochrome are two c.d.'s with the same sound. Call me an old fart, stick in the mud geezer, I really don't care, these last two adventures by this band are not up to par with the older stuff. You can hear faint echoes of what once was Helmet, but the heavy duty, hard core, in your face vocals and drumming are just not there. A good album no doubt, but great or excellent, not even close. I wish there was some way we the base core fans who fell in love with the original Helmet could have the original members forced back ...

    album #2 from the new Helmet

    ok, let's face it... Page Hamilton is Helmet. much in the same way that Trent Reznor is Nine Inch Nails, and Billy Corgan is Smashing Pumpkins. however, the fact remains - without the original lineup (including bassist Henry Bogdan, and drummer John Stanier), it will never match classic Helmet albums like Meantime and Betty. after a 6 year hiatus, the first Helmet "comeback" album Size Matters was an average album. the expectations for these reunion albums are always way too high, so in that respect it never really got a fair chance. but Monochrome is actually a step up from the previous record. it was recorded and mixed completely in analog, and Wharton Tiers (the guy who produced their debut Strap It On) worked with Page this time around to try and get a rougher, more angular Helmet ...

    helmet

    I love Helmet since the album "aftertaste", and with the last noisy and excellent albums "size matters" and "monochrome" (with the new line up), Page Hamilton that now he is a real singer too. Did I said that I love Helmet ?
