Divination instruments in traditional African art

In Africa, the Bayaka (Yaka) speak to a diviner (Ngoombu) when they seek to identify the cause of an illness or misfortune. Ngoombu is responsible for determining the cause and proposing a solution or at least recommendations.

An N'koku Ngoombu slit drum (also called n-Kookwa Ngoombu) is a traditional object involved in the rite of divination. At the rite, the diviner will tap the instrument to call the spiritual forces. The sounds will also accompany the words of the diviner to translate the cause of the misfortune that affected the client.

  • Returns:
    All returns must be in original condition as received and should be shipped with delivery confirmation and insured.
  • Please note that all returns must be pre-approved by us and inspected upon return before issuing any credit or refund. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted. If you need to return an item, please check twice to confirm the item is not as described and contact our customer service representative for a return RMA, let us know the detailed problem and send us pictures for confirmation.

  • Shipping and Damages (always photograph or video):
  • We always photograph and many times video items for proof of what is sent.If the item shows damage before unboxing, unpacking or uncrating, please photograph it and list the damages with the carrier before accepting. If the outside is damaged badly do not accept the package or crate. We always ship with signature acceptance so it is not just dropped outside or on your threshold or porch damaged before you see it. External damage may or may not show damage to what's inside so if you accept it and there is outside damage, make sure you indicate the damage in writing when accepting it.
  • If there is no visual damage to the product but the packaging is damaged please closely inspect the product for any hidden damage.Damage claims after delivery without proof or photographs do not allow us to file for the claim with the trucking or courier insurance company and we will not refund your money.

  • If a return comes to us from buyers remorse and the item is as described when shipped there will be a 50% restocking fee before the refund or credit is given to offset packaging and shipping fees. If the item has been used and is not returned as we shipped it the product will be prorated and an amount deducted before and credit is given. Certain items lose all their value once used or if they are worn badly from usage when returned. After inspection the items will be prorated depending on what credit or refund is given.There is no refund to the buyer for return shipping fees.
