Up for your consideration is a \"prime example\" of a World War II US Navy airborne Homing Adapter, Model R-1/ARR-1. This unit contains four RCA type VT-120 \"acorn\" tubes, a marvel of miniaturization at the time. Lockable tuning dial labeled \"34\"-\"58\" as seen in photos, actually referring to 234-258MHz. Although tuningknob looks bad in photo, it\'s just dusty (exaggerated by photo).Unit appears \"MINT\": nameplates, wrinkle-finish paint and hardware are all very clean, seeming unused. The quality of build is incredible. All wiring harness inside is tied neatly with lacing cord, all tube sockets are ceramic, appears to be the highest quality components available at the time (much better than many consumer radios I\'ve worked on from the same era.) There are several electrical connections on the opposite end of the enclosure from the tuning dial, as seen in photos. There are good write-ups online explaining the airborne radio navigation system that this unit was part of, the ZB-series Navy homing system. Unit has an internal toggle switch for 12 or 24 volt operation. Currently set for 24 volts. Rubber vibration damper mounts are in perfect condition. Unit is mounted to a panel containing green felt for further vibration damping, also in perfect condition. Top cover is shown in some photos, and removed in others to show internals. Because I do not own the rest of the system this unit is part of, I have no way to test this unit, and thus it is sold \"as is\", \"as seen\". About 4\"x4\"x13\" in size, mostly aluminum construction. This would be a great addition to a WW2 or militaria museum display of any kind. I\'ve enjoyed just looking at it on my desk.
