Wonderful Vintage \"Mrs. Wagner\'s Pies\" Pie Pan from Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics to \"America\"

A wonderful vintage pie pan with \"Mrs. Wagner\'s Pies\" embossed on the bottom with a center star. People would buy their pies in these substantial advertising pie pans and then return them to the store for money off their next pie.
In the 1870\'s Mrs. Wagner started baking pies in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. As her pies became more popular, she started selling them from a truck that drove around much like an ice cream truck. In the 1890\'s she was selling pies in both her summer home in New Jersey and in New York City and she later opened additional bakeries in New Jersey and Brooklyn. The company grew and her pies were featured at the 1939 World\'s Fair and were available in Toledo, Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Chicago and Atlantic City. The company went out of business in 1968--the same year the Simon & Garfunkel song \"America\" came out on their \"Bookends\" album. Simon & Garfunkel were from Queens, NY.
Edge-to-edge diameter is approximately 9 inches, inside diameter is about 8 1/4 inches and it is approximately 1 1/4 inches tall. It is perforated so the crust would brown nicely. Itis in overall good vintage condition.It has some minor knife scratches, a very small amount of rust and a couple of minor dents on the bottom edge from use (Please see photos).
Great for display in a country farmhouse kitchen or even a music room of a Simon & Garfunkel fan.
