His Master’s Voice was the unofficial name of a major British record label created in 1901 by The Gramophone Co. Ltd.

Also known as a phonograph and invented in the 1870s, gramophones brought the music of opera houses and dance halls to the living rooms of the wealthy. With improvements over time in quality and affordability, the gramophone became a staple in 20th Century homes, eventually becoming the turntables that we know today.
